The Department of Occupational Therapy at Tufts University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, open to candidates with a degree in occupational therapy or health related fields, to begin in September 2020. Outstanding mentorship, laboratory space, and start-up costs associated with supporting a successful research program are available. Our faculty has diverse research interests and funding from NIH, NSF, NIDLRR, PCORI, and private foundations. Ample opportunities for collaboration and secondary appointments are possible across the university and at affiliated, leading hospitals.
The Department of Occupational Therapy is a graduate department within the School of Arts and Sciences in a new state-of-the-art building designed to cultivate interdisciplinary collaborative research, teaching and innovation among faculty, students and community partners. We have many productive collaborations throughout the University (e.g. Schools of Medicine, Engineering, Veterinarian Sciences), and departments and programs (e.g., Public Health, Psychology, Human-Centered Engineering, Cognitive Sciences, Child Study and Human Development, Education). Current faculty also collaborate with other institutions in the Boston Area and nationwide. Our campus overlooks the city of Boston in an intellectually and culturally vibrant and diverse environment.
We encourage candidates with interdisciplinary research focused on health promotion, activity and participation, or disparities for people with or at risk of disability. Expertise in occupational therapy, public health, rehabilitation sciences, health services research, or disability studies preferred. The successful candidate will have a record of scholarly achievement, including a track record of peer-reviewed publications and strong potential for extramural funding. Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to teaching and advising, and to fostering an environment of inclusion and collegiality.
The candidate must hold a research doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) and scholarship in areas that are closely allied to the department’s strategic goals and vision.
