Job Summary : This position is in the Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health (VIGH). This position will be part of the BRIDGE program, a new five-year NIH-funded clinical trial that seeks to close the treatment gap for children with epilepsy in Africa through task-shifting approaches. In this role, you will be working with the data coordinating center based at Vanderbilt for a large 60-site cluster randomized clinical trial in three large cities in northern Nigeria. You will responsible for building and maintaining the large database associated with this project, working closely with our in-country data teams in Nigeria and the study team at VIGH.
Expected responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
* Building and maintaining complex, large databases, with variables determined through conversations with project faculty and staff. * Collecting and cleaning incoming quantitative and qualitative data, in consult with in-country data managers at Nigerian sites. * Working with study investigators and statisticians to determine which data should be included in analyses and preparing data sets for these analyses. * Actively participating in meeting with study team and additional meetings with data team. * Preparing weekly reports for investigators and comprehensive reports for funding agency and other purposes. * Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements : This position requires Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience. Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics, medical statistics, epidemiology, or a related field plus 2-5 years of related experience, including experience working with large international health projects across multiple cultures is preferred. Excellent quantitative skills and the ability to focus on large datasets are essential.
The successful candidate should be extremely well organized, efficient, detail oriented, a team player, and a self-starter. Working with a large team of researchers in the US and in northern Nigeria is essential. Additionally, the candidate should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to think and function independently. S/he must be able to multi-task while remaining calm, helpful and courteous. Excellent time management and planning skills are essential. Proficiency with MS Office programs and ability to quickly learn new programs is needed. Proficiency with data management tools (e.g. REDCap) and/or data analysis (e.g. Stata, R) is preferred.
Additional Information : This is a full-time exempt position. Minimal to no domestic travel, and minimal to no foreign travel may be required.
Salary is dependent upon education and experience.
