SUMMARY The Executive Director directs a large staff engaged in providing a wide range of clinical, educational, rehabilitative and administrative mental health services to residents of Allegan County in accordance with the policies established by the Allegan County Community Mental Health Board. The Executive Director makes authoritative recommendations to the Board concerning policy, assists in determination, and directs implementation of procedural practices for all programs. In addition, the Executive Director serves as spokesperson for the Board on matters of established policy or preliminary program development.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES • Provides visionary leadership for the Agency, identifying future direction and objectives. • Provides accurate information to the Board, and recommends appropriate actions by the Board. • Adheres to Board directives and promotes the same among staff. • Promotes the Mission, Vision and Value Statements of ACCMHS. • Assures sound financial management of the Agency, including balanced budgets and timely audits. • Makes appropriate recommendations as to organization and reorganization of the Agency. • Communicates effectively with the Board as well as members of the staff and the general public. • Informs the Board of management staffing changes and seeks approval for any staff positions that go beyond the approved budget. • Responsible for the development and administration of personnel policy and procedures. • Provides direction and guidance to managerial, professional and support staff regarding all aspects of the Agency's mental health mission including substance abuse and developmental disability programs. • Directs the hiring of staff and their performance evaluations, delegating personnel activities in accordance with Board guidelines.
APPLY NOWPRINT POSTING QUALIFICATIONS • A Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Business Administration, or similar field related to mental health or public administration is required. • A minimum of five years of experience, preferably supervision and/or administration of community mental health services.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Knowledge of Michigan Department of Health and Human Serivces requirements and recommendations. • Working knowledge of the mental health system in Michigan, including Michigan Department of Community Health funding model. • Ability to create and promotes a collaborative team atmosphere. • Ability to provide innovative and creative ideas related to Agency operations. • Ability to respond well to unexpected situations and make appropriate recommendations. • Ability to keep abreast of trends, experiments and successful new programs in mental health care and education, and disseminates such information to appropriate staff and Board of Directors.
