The Department of Medicine of the Stanford University School of Medicine is recruiting a Chief for the Stanford Prevention Research Center, one of its research-oriented divisions. The Chief will lead the research and educational activities for the Center. Both physicians and non-physicians are encouraged to apply for this research-intensive, full-time faculty position at the level of Professor in the Medical Center Line or the University Tenure Line. The Center has a distinguished history in the identification and evaluation of community-based interventions to prevent disease and to promote wellness. Its faculty study diverse, interdisciplinary topics such as the effectiveness of community and multi-level interventions; community-based participatory research; health behavior interventions; health disparities; socioeconomically disadvantaged and/or underrepresented minority populations; translation of research into policy and public health practice; study of health and the physical and social environments; and innovative methods in community-based research.
We are seeking a candidate who combines proven leadership skills with an outstanding record of academic accomplishment, a dedication to excellence in our research and educational missions, and an understanding of the complexity of academic medicine. Candidates should be accomplished investigators with a national/international reputation. The Chief will be expected to recruit and mentor new faculty members with the goal of extending the reach of the Center in strategic areas.
The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the Medical Center Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care or programmatic development, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill, and the predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching.
